The campaign of 1952 is interesting. After WWII, General Dwight Eisenhower was courted by then-President Harry S. Truman to run on a Democratic ticket with Eisenhower in the top spot. Eisenhower declined, but said in 1952 that he was a Republican and would accept the party's nomination if offered. Eisenhower had reportedly never voted. He chose Richard M. Nixon, who was then 39, as his running mate, because of positive attention he had received prosecuting Alger Hiss.

This pin shows the top of the Capitol Building in white with a red background, and "IKE" in white letters; the bottom half is blue with "Nixon" also in white letters. It is printed "Bastian Bros. Co. Rochester NY" on the side. It measures 3/4 of an inch across.
