Mourning Becomes America: Mourning Art in the New Nation, researched and prepared by Anita Schorsch. The book accompanied an exhibition held at the William Penn Memorial Museum and the Albany Institute of History and Art. IIt features examples of mourning art, such as scarves, purses, jewelry, and prints, that flourished in the Eastern United States during the first half of the nineteenth century. The original exhibition displayed over 250 items. The book was first published in 1976.
