Wonderful Vintage Gold Engraved Bangle Bracelet

This is a special vintage gold tone bangle It has lovely leaf engraving and on the inside it is inscribed "To Ann from Mom" on one side, and "San Diego 1968." Was it a graduation gift, a birthday gift Something else?
